Better Than You — Story Draft

Reva and Sammie were playing outside. They ran, jumped about, and drew silly drawings.

“I’m faster than you,” Reva said.

“No, I’m faster than you,” Sammie said.

The two little boys chased each other, running as fast as they could.

“I can jump higher than you,” Sammie said.

“No, I can jump higher than you,” Reva said.

On and on they argued. It was the same for every game. Soon they got sulky and wouldn’t play together anymore.

David, Reva’s big brother, could hear them. He decided he'd try to get them to be friends again.

“Hey Ellie, let’s teach these two to get along.”

“Good idea,” Ellie said.

Then David and Ellie pretended to be giants. They called themselves Giant Brother and Giant Sister.

STOMP! STOMP! STOMP! STOMP! They went stomping into the garden.

“What’s that fussing I hear?” Giant Brother roared.

“It’s two little boys in the garden,” Giant Sister answered, her voice booming.

“Two little boys, eh,” said Giant Brother, “I think they’ll be a perfect gift for Giant Ma and Giant Pa.”

“Yes, we can wrap them up in the castle as anniversary gifts.”

So the two giants picked them up.

Reva and Sammie wiggled and giggled until they got to the castle.

“Please don’t eat us,” the little boys begged.

“Eat you! We never do that,” Ellie said, turning up her nose. “We like scones and chocolate, not tiny talking dolls.”

“We want to wrap you two as gifts,” David explained. “It’s Giant Ma and Giant Pa’s wedding anniversary.”

“We thought we’d get something special for them,”

“You could make them a drawing," Reva suggested.

“And you could get them a tiny race car,” Sammie said.

“You could also bake them a cake,” they both said.

“Oh! We’d love to, but we can’t draw,” said Giant Brother.

“And the tiny shop is down that tiny hole. Only a tiny boy could get through it, and he’d have to be fast,” said Giant Sister.

“We can’t bake because the key to the pantry is in that slit high up in the wall. I can reach the slit if I stand on Giant Brother's shoulders and jump really high. Still, our fingers are much too large to fit.”

“How did it get up there?” the little boys asked.

“It got stuck while we were playing catch,” said Giant Brother with a goofy smile.

The little boys wondered how they could help. They didn’t want to be anniversary gifts.

At last Sammy thought of a wonderful idea.

“Reva can make a picture for Giant Ma and Giant Pa. He’s really good at drawing,” he suggested.

"Will you do that, little boy?” They asked Reva.

Reva was happy to help. He, too, had an idea.

“Sammie is really fast,” Reva said. “He can go to the tiny shop and get a tiny car. I’m sure he’ll be back in time.”

“It looks like our problems are solved!” said the giant siblings.

So, Reva drew a beautiful drawing, and Sammie got a tiny toy from the tiny store. Giant Brother and Giant Sister were happy.

It was time to bake the cake. But the key was stuck in a tiny hole way up in the wall. Giant Sister stood on Giant Brother’s shoulders. Little Reva stood on Giant Sister’s shoulders. Little Sammie stood on little Reva’s shoulders and jumped as high as he could. At last, he got the keys.

They all danced for joy. Soon, the cake was ready. Reva and Sammie were invited to the party. There were balloons and party decorations. Everywhere looked great. They were ready for the party. It was fun. When it was over, they went home.

On the way home they couldn’t stop talking about how fast Sammie ran and how high he jumped. They also talked about how beautiful the picture Reva drew was.

Just then, Sammie’s mum came to pick him up. Reva waved goodbye.

“See you later, Sammie.”

“See you later, Reva!”

It had been a fun adventure.

The end.
