David, Ellie, and the Three Stalks - Draft

It was almost evening. David, Ellie, and Reva were sitting in the living room. They were all tired because they had played a lot. Reva fell asleep on the sofa.

When David and Ellie wanted to watch TV, Mummy told them not to. It would wake Reva up.

They felt a bit sad. Even though they loved little Reva, it was no fun when they couldn’t do the things they liked.

It was always "Shhh… Reva is asleep,” or "Let him have it, he’s only a baby,” or "Close the window, Reva might catch a cold.”

Just then, Daddy came home. David and Ellie ran to meet him. They gave him a big hug and talked really loud. Mummy gave him a hug and whispered, “Reva’s asleep.”

Daddy took him into the room. Reva had grown so big, and only Daddy could carry him without waking him.

Ellie and David were happy. Now they could watch TV.

“We don’t get to do the things we want when Reva is around,” Ellie said to Daddy.

Daddy smiled and said, “I have an idea.”

“Is it an adventure?” David asked.

“Yes, an adventure. You two are adventurers who want to climb Fluffy City to have fun. It is in the sky. You meet a brave knight and have to solve a riddle.”

“What’s your riddle?” Ellie asked the knight.

“I’ll show you," the knight answered. He took them to three plants. One was tender and young. The other was young and strong. And the last was a large stalk.

“What will you do with the plants?” the knight asked.

“That’s easy," David said. “We’ll climb the biggest stalk to get to Fluffy City.”

They ran to the largest stalk and started to climb.

“What of the other plants?” the knights called after them.

“We don’t need them,” they answered and hurried to Fluffy City.

When it was time to climb down, the large stalk was no longer there. It had disappeared. Instead, the young and strong stalk had grown in its place. They slid down the stalk and said goodbye to the knight.

A few moments later, they wanted to go up to Fluffy City again. There was no stalk to climb. Only the young tender plant was left.

"You still haven't solved the riddle,” the knight said.

“It's too hard,” David said.

“Please, tell us, Daddy?” Ellie asked.

“The tiniest plants need the most support.”

“The same way Reva does,” Ellie said.

"Exactly," Daddy smiled.

They watered the little plant. Soon, it started to grow. It grew strong and tall and no longer needed support. When they had solved the riddle, the other stalks came back. The knight, David, and Ellie climbed to Fluffy City together. In Fluffy City, they played catch and drank some orange juice. It was a lot of fun.

When they came down, Reva was awake. They were glad to see him, and they all gave him a big hug.

The End.
