This week, I decided to take the bull by the horns and work on my story drafts. Applying the principles I’ve been practicing, I hope to refine them into decently crafted stories.

Rain, Rain, Come Again is the first short story I’ll be working on. You can read one of its earliest drafts here. Tomorrow, I’ll be posting a more refined version where I’ll concentrate on elements like scene structure, character description, world building, and pacing with a dash of comedy.

Next, I’ll revisit the structure with more adept descriptions using actions instead of adjectives. Later, I’ll work on substituting weak verbs for stronger ones, and I just may incorporate some appropriately ornamental metaphors. All this will be rewritten in a child-friendly voice.

Lastly, but equally important, our finished story will be illustrated by yours truly. In the past, I have incorporated AI into my workflow for ease and speed, but I'd like you to feel every stroke of warmth there is to give. So grab your mugs of hot chocolate and follow along as I attempt to create cozy.
