Reva and The Frog Prince

“You sit over there, Fluffy!” Reva yelled to his teddy bear.

“You serve tea!” he snapped at Mr. Elephant.

He was acting like a king. And for all he knew, being a king meant ordering everyone else around. If that were true, then Reva was the best king of all.

“AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!” yelled Reva. This time, it wasn’t pretend. A frog had hopped onto Fluffy the teddy bear’s head. With a powerful leap, it landed on the lawn. BOING!!!

Ellie and David rushed over. They wanted to make sure Reva was okay. When David saw the frog, he said, “Quick, let’s follow it.” So, they all ran after the frog. It went through a hole in the wall, and they couldn’t see it any more.

“That’s the Frog Prince,” said David. “He rules the pond nearby.”

They were all out of breath.

“Let’s follow him and see where he goes," said Ellie. So they opened the gate and went into the street. They were just in time to see the Frog Prince jump into the pond with a big SPLASH! At the edge of the pond, the prince was welcomed by his servants. They all shook when they saw him. He threw his coat to one servant and kicked his boots to another. It almost broke the servant’s nose, but the servant caught it just in time.

“Serve my dinner!” he ordered. So, his servants made a banquet. The prince ate so much, he almost burst open. There was so much food left over.

“Throw it all away!” he ordered. But his servants never did. They hid it for themselves.

He didn’t care for his servants, and his servants didn’t care about him. They were so scared of him and were looking for a chance to run away.

One evening, after the Frog Prince had eaten, he fell asleep. Some of his servants decided to run off.

“Grab your coats,” cried one of the servants.

“Hurry! Hurry!” cried another.

“We must run to the Frog Prince two ponds away from here. He is kind and gentle. There’s no time to spare!” cried the third.

And the three ran off. They never came back to that kingdom.

Every night, a few servants would run off, and soon, this cruel prince began to notice.

“Where is the cook?" he croaked. “And where is the tailor?!” he cried.

But everyone was too frightened to answer.

“Are you all deaf?” he asked.

“No, Your Majesty,” said a little frog.

The mean frog prince turned in surprise. “RIBBIT! RIBBIT! What?!” he croaked in amazement. Who was daring enough to answer him so simply? But the little frog kept on speaking.

“They went to the Frog Prince, who lives two ponds away from here.”

“WHAT!!” cried the prince. “How dare they?" "Ungrateful wretches," said the prince. "He’s much more handsome than I am, and that's why they left," he whined. "Well, they can have it their way," he said, feeling sorry for himself.

“Silly Prince,” said the reckless little frog. “They didn’t leave you because he is more handsome than you, but because he is kind and gentle and you are not. You are very cruel, Your Majesty.”

The king knew he must act better or all his servants would run off. So, he was nicer from then on.

“Silly frog,” Ellie said. “He should learn to put his servants first.”

“Princes don’t have to be mean,” Reva said, very seriously.

"No, they don’t,” David agreed.

The three children went back home. And Reva, the king, became Reva, the kind, from then on. Fluffy thought that name was just right.

The End.
