Sweaters, Popsicles, and Giant Popsicwiggle - A Short Children’s Story
One day, Mummy, Daddy, Ellie, David, and Reva were going out. It was really cold outside. They all had to wear thick sweaters to keep themselves warm.
Daddy had a light brown sweater. Mummy had a yellow sweater. David had a blue sweater, and Ellie had a pretty pink sweater. Little Reva had a lovely yellow-orange sweater. But when Mummy tried to put his sweater on him, he wiggled and squirmed.
“Reva, you have to wear your sweater,” she said with a frown. “It’s so cold outside.”
But Reva didn’t want to wear his sweater.
David saw a chance for an adventure. He started to strut about. He looked very grand.
“By order of the King,” he said, “all citizens of Warm and Cosy Land are to put on thick, warm, and cosy sweaters. If they do not, they will be turned into ice popsicles and served to GIANT POPSICWIGGLE – the giant that wiggles whenever he eats ice popsicles.”
“Right, Your Majesty?” David said, turning to his father.
“Right,” Daddy said, chuckling heartily.
“Ellie, please put on your pretty pink sweater,” David said to Ellie.
So, Ellie did and twirled about. She loved her sweater.
“Warm and beautiful,” said the King.
“Reva, would you please put on your adorable sweater?” David said to Reva.
Reva touched his sweater. It was a nice sweater, but he loved the buttons on his overalls. He didn’t want them covered by the sweater.
“You don’t want to be an ice popsicle, do you?” David asked with a wink.
When David said that, Reva ran to Grandma.
She picked him up and said, “There, there. What lovely buttons you have. It would be a shame to cover them up, wouldn’t it?” she said with a smile. “I know just the thing to do, and there’ll be no ice popsicles for Giant Popsicwiggle today.”
So, she put Reva’s overalls over his sweater.
“And no wiggling!" shouted Reva heartily.
They all went out warmly dressed, safe from the cold and from Giant Popsicwiggle.
The End.
