The Adventures of the Good Prince

It was a lovely afternoon. David was in the kitchen drinking a glass of water. Suddenly, there was a loud CRASH! A jug had fallen to the ground. It was shattered into many tiny pieces.

Mummy ran in, and Daddy ran in. Ellie ran in and so did little Reva. They all came to see what had made the loud sound.

“David, did you break the jug?” Mummy asked.

“No,” David said, because he hadn’t. “It tripped all by itself. I think it was the wind.”

“Just tell the truth. There is nothing to lose,” Daddy said.

“It’s the truth,” David said with a scowl. “The wind was up to no good. Naughty little thing,” David said with a scowl. He was about to cry.

“That’s enough,” Daddy said. “Up to your room.”

David ran off. He was hurt. Why didn’t they believe him?

KNOCK, KNOCK.

Ellie was knocking at David’s door. She needed help with her homework. But David wouldn’t help. He was sad.

KNOCK, KNOCK.

It was little Reva knocking. He wanted to play catch with David. But David said no; he was sad.

David gently shut his door. He looked around him. His room was a big mess. He didn’t want to tidy his room. He felt like making it messier. But he prayed instead. When he was done, he said, “In Jesus’ name.” He felt much better.

“An adventure would be great,” David thought to himself. So he thought of a story.

A young prince had been sent away from his kingdom. But he had done nothing wrong, so he felt sad. He came to a small city. It was a big mess. A terrible storm had scattered everything about.

“I’ll pick it all up and put it all away,” the prince said to himself. So he did. He straightened out the signs and swept the streets. Very soon, the city was as good as new. He felt much better.

It was time for him to leave. The good people thanked him and waved goodbye.

“I’ve been sent away from my kingdom,” the prince said. “Still, I will help everyone I can.” And he did. He helped a little girl with her homework. Then, he played catch with a little budkin who loved games. On and on he went, leaving everything better than he had met it.

Soon, the citizens of his kingdom had heard about their prince. They were sorry to have sent him away and asked him to come back. So, he went back to his kingdom. He ruled for a very long time.

Later that evening, Mummy and Daddy called David. They said they were sorry.

“We weren’t there, pumpkin. Maybe it was the truth,” Mummy said. They gave him a big hug. They all watched a movie together.

It was a fun adventure after all.

The End.
