Playing barefooted can be fun, but so can be playing with boots. In this short children's story, see how David, Ellie, have an adventure.

The Hero Squad
It was a bright and beautiful morning. David, Ellie, and Reva wanted to go outside to play. There were sticks and branches all about. It was because of the dreadful storm last night.
“Put your boots on if you want to play outside,” Mummy said.
But the children didn’t think that would be much fun. They wanted to play barefooted on the grass.
David knew it would be a bad idea. They might get sticks stuck in their feet. He would get them to wear their boots. What better way was there than an imaginary story?
He put on his boots. Then, he galloped about on an imaginary horse.
“Whoa,” he said as he stopped his horse in front of Ellie and Reva.
“”By order of King Caralot,” he said, “all young boys and girls are to join the Mini Hero Squad.”
“Hero Squad,” Reva asked.
“What happens on a Hero Squad?" Ellie asked.
"The⁸ Hero Squad is the best squad in the Kingdom of Goodsense. That’s our kingdom.”
“They help old people cross the street.”
“Wow,” said Reva.
“They help cats get down from trees."
“Wow,” whispered Reva.
“They make sure there's ice cream after lunch.”
“WHOA!” Reva said. It was really the best squad ever.
“But I thought Mummy and Daddy did that,” Ellie asked.
“Ellie!” David said with a wink.
“Yes, that’s the job of the Hero Squad in the Kingdom of Goodsense," Ellie said. “They also clear out the toys after playtime,” she added.
That sounded great. They all wanted to be on the Hero Squad. So, they climbed on David’s horse and rode away to Hero Camp.
At Hero Camp, they all trained hard. They did squats and pushups. There was also time for cartwheels and somersaults.
Finally, they were fully trained. It was time to put on their armour. They wore shields and swords and helmets and boots. Reva thought they looked really grand.
They ran outside to play. The first task was to make the grass safe for all the people of Goodsense Kingdom. It was a good thing they wore their boots or else they wouldn’t be able to.
Reva loved being on the Hero Squad. He also loved his boots.
