The Secret in Little Brown Box

David, Ellie, and Reva sped into the living room. “Wee!! Wee!!” cried Reva as he ran. It was Christmas Day and time to open their presents.

There were tall boxes and short ones, large boxes and small ones. There were squishy packages and shiny ones. What a pleasant sight.

Almost at the same time, a little brown box on the table caught the three children’s sight. David looked at Ellie and Reva happily and said, “I think the best gift is in that box.”

“The box at the top of the hill,” he said, pointing to an imaginary hill in the distance.

Ellie and Reva nodded with wide eyes.

“We must climb that hill and get the box at the top,” said Ellie.

So, they started their journey, which was only a few steps. Jumping over rocks and puddles, the three adventurers finally made it to the top of the hill. They picked up the brown box and read the note. It said, “PLEASE, DO NOT OPEN."

Their shoulders drooped. Ellie and Reva went away, but David really wanted to know what was inside.

At last he opened the gift, but he only found a piece of paper that said, "All the gifts are around the tree." He giggled, a little ashamed, and joined the rest at Treasure Forest, which is what they called the Christmas tree. There he unwrapped a bicycle, a ball, and a pair of sneakers. It was the best Christmas yet!”
